It has been a strange summer for farmers this year, from too much rain in May to drought through June and July. While we did have some loses in Raspberries and other berries, our apples look better than we’ve seen in a long time. We have started picking Paula Red apples and have several different varieties of summer apples available in the store currently. In a few weeks we’ll start picking Lobo and McIntosh and we’ll continue with Cortland, Spartan and Empire towards End of September and into October.
Our sweet corn is hitting its peak and is really at its best right now, with 3 to 4 varieties available every day. We hope to be selling sweet corn in the Bakery Barn until Mid-September. We’ve been working hard over the summer putting together a new website, with lots of new information about what we grow and new recipes, we welcome any feedback to make it even better. We’ve also been working on expanding the Play Yard with duck races, bunny-ville and a new maze – with the hopes of having a few more additional attractions for this fall. We will be starting pumpkin picking towards the end of September and will have squash for sale starting mid-September. |
